Sunday Evening Hike on San Clemente's Sea Summit and Beach Trails

ABOUT THE HIKE: We meetup in front of Starbucks in the San Clemente Factory Outlet Mall. We proceed through the Mall and down the beautiful Sea Summit Trails with magnificent vistas of the Pacific Ocean to the beach. The hike is timed to enjoy the sunset out to and back from the San Clemente Pier. Our return is a loop back up the Sea Summit trail to the Mall for an optional post hike celebration. This is an approximate five mile, advanced beginner hike with 300 feet of elevation gain/loss. The mostly dirt trail in Sea Summit Open Space is well maintained with some stairs. When we reach the North Beach Trail, we may decide to take the wet sand walk to the Pier if low tide or the popular elevated bridge path if high tide. The mid point of the hike is a walk on the historic San Clemente Pier, where we will take a rest stop to enjoy the views. Public restrooms are available at the Pier. We will hiking at a steady moderate pace with re-group stops at trail junctions and vista points. Hike time will be approximately two hours. The hike is dog friendly.

ABOUT THE POST HIKE CELEBRATION: The mall offers several dining choices that include Blaze Pizza, Ruby's Diner, U-Swirl for yogurt, and Slapfish for seafood and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Take Interstste 5 to San Clemente... Exit the freeway at Avenita Pico heading toward the ocean... Turn right on Avenida Vista Hermosa... Turn right into the Mall parking lot with plenty of FREE parking. We meetup in front of Starbucks at the entry to the mall. Restrooms are available in the mall. See map for details.
