The Trailrunners are running Kit Carson Park

This will be a 3.2-mile loop that maximizes the park's unpaved perimeter trails to keep things soft and safe for the pups.

📅 Date & Time: Saturday 11/7/2026 at 7am

📍 Meetup Location: Kit Carson Park Amphitheater parking lot (closest access to the dirt trailheads) 🐾 Trail Specs & Logistics

• Distance: ~3.2 miles

• Terrain: 90% Hard-packed dirt, singletrack, and woodchip paths (minimal paved crossings at footbridges)

• Elevation: Mostly flat, with one optional short dirt hill climb over West Hill

• Difficulty: Easy / Beginner-friendly trail profile

• Amenities: Restrooms and water stations are available near the central sports fields, but please bring enough water for your dog's specific needs.

• Parking Tip

You'll want to park in the lots on the western side of the park (closest to Bear Valley Parkway). These lots put you right next to the amphitheater and West Hill, which gives you immediate access to the dirt trailheads without having to walk the dogs across the paved central sports complexes.

FYI: Canicross running is best performed in temperatures cooler than 68 degrees to avoid heat exhaustion in dogs, if temps are warmer than 71 degrees the meetup will be considered cancelled, for the health of the dogs. Please read all below. Suggested Equipment:

• Canicross Belt or Runner's Hands-free belt.

• Dog Harness with back leash attachment. No "run-restricted" harnesses.

• Dog Leash or Canicross Bungee leash.

• Water & Treats - For you & your dog.

• Bring you own canine first aid kit.

• Wag Bags provided at Park.

• Rabies & dog license must be current.

*Please, no dogs under one year old. Their bodies are not fully developed yet and need a bit more time to grow before pulling in a harness. ***Not Recommended for Dogs with shorter muzzles, i.e Pit Bulls, Boxers, etc. are not well suited for canicross running, because of strained breathing issues & heart stress. I'm not the best at canine CPR. ***We're here for a low stress fun for Owners and their dogs! try to maintain a 6FT distance from each other. ***Should your dog show signs of aggression towards other dogs or humans, you'll be asked to leave. ***Protect the safety of dogs and their human teammates at the meet-up all times. If your dog damages another dog or person, ...you are responsible for any damages & medical bills.
