  • SANDAG released the Bike Anywhere Day Pit Stop Map to help riders use over 1,800 miles of bikeways and more than 100 pit stops—this event will run from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. on May 15 and riders in Oceanside who register will get a free t-shirt and a chance to win an e-bike.  The Vista Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chef Eric Bost, who runs Michelin-starred Jeune et Jolie, shared his journey from growing up in kitchens to working worldwide and opening Carlsbad spots like Campfire, Wildland, and the immersive chef’s counter Lilo that opened on April 17—he said challenges like a failed Los Angeles venture taught him to keep evolving his menu.  CBS8
  • The Brooks is hosting three events this weekend—today an All-Star Tribute to Jim Henson at 8:00 p.m., Saturday a musical performance by Whitney Shay & Friends at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday a free screening of Jesus Christ Superstar with showings at 12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  The Vista Press

  • Clean Energy Alliance launched its PeakSmart Savers program to help residents lower electricity bills by offering rates that are 30% lower than standard rates & asking customers to cut back on power use during high-demand days. Residential customers can enroll now and will receive bill protection if their charges exceed what they normally pay after one year & get real-time alerts for load reduction events.  The Vista Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Oceanside Chamber is set to host its Rising Star Scholarship Breakfast on April 29th at the William A. Wagner Aquatic Center—where 30 local high school students will share $50,000 in scholarships for overcoming challenges. The program—launched in 2021—has awarded over $94,000 to 51 students with support from generous sponsors.  The Vista Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • TrueCare opened its completed Vista Way Health Center on April 16 to offer primary care and QuickCare services for Oceanside residents. The 37,488-square-foot center located off the CA-78 now provides a full range of health services and easier access to care—bringing quality service close to home.  The Vista Press
