  • Oceanside Museum of Art and Oceanside Art Walk are launching Street Level x Art Walk, a new summer series that will celebrate Oceanside’s art scene with free museum admission and live music by Jungle Poppins on Friday, May 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. — a docent tour of The Art of Autism: A Different Lens at 6:00 p.m. and local vendors offering handmade goods add extra attractions to this all-ages event.  The Vista Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • North Island Credit Union Foundation awarded two $1,000 scholarships to North County high school seniors on April 24 — one from Oceanside plans to attend Montana State University while the Encinitas student will study at Western Washington University. The annual program has given 10 scholarships each year since 2005 to honor students for their school and community achievements.  The Vista Press

  • Scientists report that a toxic algae bloom has killed hundreds of marine animals—including whales, dolphins, and sea lions—along the Southern California coast, as high domoic acid levels emerged and rescue agencies work to handle up to 100 calls daily.  CBS8
