  • New data shows that domoic acid levels in the ocean are dropping after a weekend storm broke up the harmful algae bloom that had sickened sea lions along our coast—SeaWorld San Diego reported several recovered animals have been released and said teams remain ready if cases rise.  CBS8

  • Supervisor Jim Desmond said he opposes a proposal by two colleagues at the upcoming Board meeting to tap nearly $380 million from county emergency reserves—funds meant for real emergencies—to cover a $138 million deficit that could grow to $321 million and lead to tax hikes. He warned that officials should control spending rather than risk further financial strain on residents.  The Vista Press
