- ➤ Trees at the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve are under stress from a fungal disease called Pitch Canker — spread by the bark beetle — that has affected about 50% of the trees, though no trees have died; California State Parks is working with partner agencies to contain the spread by modifying tree care practices.
