- ➤ The California Student Success Coach Learning Network announced its inaugural Education Impact Award recipients, honoring 21 educators statewide. Four teachers from Oceanside and the surrounding San Diego area were selected from more than 90 nominations for their exceptional classroom leadership and mentorship of student success coaches. - ➤ North County author María Felicia Kelley launches her fourth book—July Four: 7/4—to help kids learn about Independence Day, history, and seasonal traditions; it is available on Amazon and will debut on Barnes and Noble on June 4th. The Vista Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CAL FIRE San Diego has added a Sikorsky S-70 CAL FIRE Hawk helicopter at the Ramona Air Attack Base to boost water drops and night-fighting capabilities. Crews trained in Warner Springs this week to prepare for the peak fire season across the region. CBS8
- ➤ The Oceanside City Council approved a new program to launch the HEART team, a social services initiative that will use outreach specialists & case workers to connect unsheltered residents with housing and supportive services. The program, funded by Measure X revenue, was approved on May 20. The Vista Press

- ➤ Former Division I player Devin Watson has been named head coach of the Sage Creek High School boys basketball team. The Oceanside native will bring a focused coaching style and advanced training to help the team grow. The Coast News
