CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Filipino-American Cultural Organization and the Oceanside Public Library will host the 24th Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration on June 14 at the Oceanside Civic Center Plaza and Pier View Way in the Cultural District—this free event will feature folk dancing, live music, a fashion show, scholarship awards, and a big book sale at the plaza. The celebration runs from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and brings a full day of Philippine arts and culture to our community. The Vista Press
- ➤ El Camino Quilters Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. on June 10th at El Corazon Senior Center at 3302 Senior Center Dr.—attendees will pay a $10 guest fee and listen to Jenny Lyon’s lecture Tippy Top Tips for Successful Free Motion Quilting. The guild will hold a free motion quilting workshop on June 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Quilt in a Day in San Marcos with a $55 fee. The Vista Press

- ➤ Oceanside Public Library started Summer Reading 2025 on June 1 and has scheduled activities through August 2. The program offers prizes, themed workshops & free meals across local library sites for children, teens and adults. The Vista Press

- ➤ Assemblymember Laurie Davies said today her substance abuse treatment bills AB 424 and AB 425 have advanced to the Assembly Appropriations Committee (after passing the Assembly Health Committee) to discuss cost before a floor vote.
