MiraCosta College’s Roots of Justice program helps formerly incarcerated and system-impacted students heal by gardening – it offers paid work for garden upkeep and Seeding Justice Circles that partner with campus mental health services, while a Prebys Foundation grant funds the program until December.

Oceanside City Council approved the six-story Venue at Vista Bella apartment project in the Oceana neighborhood in a 4-1 vote after analysis resolved concerns over building stability and cost savings—saving the developer over $1 million through waivers.

The project will demolish a vacant building at 503 Vista Bella and provide eight very low-income units with a $60,000 crosswalk beacon addition—addressing a resident’s request for extra safety measures.
