Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 12th of June.
Good morning, Oceanside.
🏛️ Government
The Oceanside City Council approved a nearly $3.2M contract on June 4 to upgrade police body-worn and in-car camera systems—this deal adds 240 new cameras with expanded license plate reading and video management features.
The new plan extends in-car camera service until 2030 and consolidates video footage on one cloud-based platform.
On June 4, the Oceanside City Council approved a new fire hazard map made by Cal Fire—this map shows moderate, high, and very high risk zones for wildfires.
The updated map will guide future fuel reduction, building rules, and public safety projects as the city works to lower fire risks.
🏈 Sports
Today North County high school alumni made key plays in professional baseball games.
Eastlake’s Casey Schmidt hit a home run as the Giants edged the Rockies — and Tommy Edman, Korey Lee, Duce Gourson and Kyle Nevin each contributed in wins for teams including the Padres, Charlotte Knights, Albuquerque Topes, Greensboro Grasshoppers and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
