- ➤ Grocery workers at San Diego stores handed out fliers on Wednesday as they warned of a potential strike and union leaders said workers will walk off if negotiations with Kroger and Albertsons do not finish by Friday. The talks have focused on wage struggles and working conditions that many say do not support a family-sustaining income. CBS8

- ➤ A NOAA report shows that fewer than 13,000 gray whales migrated along the coast this year — down from 27,000 in 2016 — with researchers recording 47 deaths and only 85 calves, and experts say rapid climate change is hurting the whales' feeding patterns. CBS8

- ➤ California drivers will face higher gas prices starting July 1 when a state fuel tax increases gasoline costs to 61.2 cents per gallon and new carbon fuel standards take effect. Some estimates say the changes could add 65 cents per gallon while Governor Newsom's office and UC Davis experts expect a modest rise of 5 to 8 cents per gallon—State Senator Brian Jones will push for an audit of CARB.
