- ➤ The annual Pride of Vista Lions Club classic car show—in its new form as Muscles Off Main—was held on Saturday at the Guajome Park Academy parking lot with over 60 classic cars and vendor booths drawing car enthusiasts. Award winners were named in several categories, with Best of Show going to a 1959 Chevy Impala and the club presenting its Lion of the Year Award for exceptional service. The Vista Press
- ➤ The Kiwanis Club of Sunrise Vista and the Vista Education foundation will host their 31st Annual Charity Golf Tournament on August 4 at El Camino Country Club, 3202 Vista Way, Oceanside, with check-in at 7:45 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The $225 event will fund Vista Unified School District senior scholarships and feature silent & live auctions, an awards ceremony, and a buffet. - ➤ Scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography used hydrophones in the Southern California Bight over 15 years to record underwater sounds that reveal climate change effects — whale sounds fell by about 50% during the 2014 heat wave.
