- ➤ On Thursday, July 17, hundreds gathered in San Diego County including in El Cajon and Carmel Valley to honor civil rights icon John Lewis with nonviolent 'Good Trouble Lives On' rallies marking the fifth anniversary of his death. Organizers said the peaceful events aimed to uphold his legacy of challenging injustice—urging continued local action before upcoming elections. CBS8
- ➤ MainStreet Oceanside marks 25 years of service and growth in Downtown Oceanside since 2000 and will host events this August including a circus-inspired musical at Star Theatre, film showings at Surf Museum and Brooks Theatre, and a fiber art exhibit at Fabulous Fiber. Local leaders will also hold a $15 Happy Hour for young professionals on July 30 from 4 to 6 p.m.—a chance to connect locally—drawing community interest. The Vista Press

- ➤ Oceanside police arrested 25-year-old Sebastian Perez on July 17 after a video captured him stealing solar panels from a vacant home on Carolyn Circle in the Wine Hill neighborhood (the evidence also gave probable cause to detain a second suspect) and they are searching for the other individual.
