- ➤ The Oceanside Police Department will run a DUI checkpoint from 6 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location; officers choose the site using data on impaired driving crashes and warn that drivers under the influence face fines up to $13,500 and license suspensions — even prescription drugs can affect driving. - ➤ A man who was allegedly denied entry left a suspicious package near Camp Pendleton's main gate on July 30, which led to a full lockdown and road closures in Oceanside—authorities later lifted the restrictions. The Coast News
- ➤ County officials said that seniors lost nearly $70 million to scams in the first half of 2025 (the Elder Justice Task Force which includes the DA's office, police and FBI urged seniors to report suspicious messages or calls) as experts work to stop more fraud. CBS8

- ➤ San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan is sponsoring bills AB 47 and SB 286 to limit early parole for violent sex offenders over 50 after a recent hearing denied Robert Rustad—known as the Del Mar Rapist—early release. The proposed legislation is now under committee review in Sacramento and aims to reform California’s early parole program for such offenders. CBS8
