- ➤ The San Luis Rey Band of Mission Indians and Spiritual Wind are hosting California Native American Day at the Civic Center Library Courtyard where Tribal Capitan Mel Vernon will lead flute playing, drumming, storytelling, bird singing and cultural exhibits. - ➤ Former La Costa Canyon star outfielder Mickey Moniak, an Encinitas native, posted strong numbers on Sept. 14 in Colorado with four hits, two home runs, five RBIs and two stolen bases in a 9 to 6 loss.
