COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Oceanside has been tackling homelessness along the SR-78 corridor with help from Carlsbad and Interfaith Community Services—after the City Council approved a $2.3 million state grant-funded contract on Sept. 17. The program cleared encampments and helped move residents into permanent housing, contributing to a 17% reduction in unsheltered homelessness citywide. The Coast News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oceanside City Council reversed its earlier vote on an ordinance that would have expanded tenant protections by reducing waiting periods and new construction exemptions. Councilmember Rick Robinson, who changed his vote, said the measure would not stop displacement—prompting the mayor and others to seek alternative solutions. The Coast News
