- ➤ The El Camino Quilters Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14 at El Corazon Senior Center in Oceanside with guest speaker Kristie Naranjo presenting a talk called Scrappy Applique for a $10 fee. It will then host a workshop on Scrappy Applique on October 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Quilt in a Day in San Marcos for a $55 fee. The Vista Press

- ➤ Oceanside Public Library is partnering with the City of Oceanside Arts Commission and Oceanside CA Cultural District to host the O’Arts Grants Celebration on Saturday, October 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library courtyard at 330 N. Coast Highway. A special edition of Oceanside Art Walk runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Civic Center Plaza and will award $150,000 in grants—featuring food, music, live performances and the announcement of the 2025-26 Arts & Culture Grant awardees. - ➤ CBS 8’s Vanessa Paz and Shawn Styles won first prize at the Food Bank Guac-off by beating ten teams from San Diego and Tijuana+they created a winning recipe with ripe avocados, micro diced tomatoes, red onions and jalapenos+the blend features zests of lime, lemon and orange for a tangy flavor. - ➤ North City's final free outdoor concert will take place on October 25th from 5pm to 9pm when Music by Eras performs The Heartland. - ➤ Today, San Diego County approved a new ordinance that expands the oversight of the Citizens Law Enforcement Review Board to include investigations of healthcare providers in future jail deaths following the ninth in-custody death this year. The rule, proposed by Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe and passed by a 4*1 vote, applies only to new cases and faces opposition from Sheriff Kelly Martinez. CBS8
