Oceanside Sanctuary, a church with 150 years of service at 204 S.
Freeman Street, is marking its anniversary with a Community Carnival on November 22 from noon to 3 p.m. and a sesquicentennial worship service on November 23 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.—both events honor a long history of local service and inclusion.
Wave Chasers (a women's bodyboarding group) has grown from five to over 100 members and meets three times a week at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas to enjoy the ocean and build lasting friendships.
The free group welcomes women of all ages and abilities and is known by local lifeguards for its spirited outings.

Encinitas native Alyssa Spencer won her third Super Girl Surf Pro in Jacksonville on Sunday—she beat Eden Walla with strong waves and tied the record held by Coco Ho.
Her win moved her into first place in the North American WSL Qualifying Series rankings and kept her 11th in the World Surf League Challenger Series.
