➤ Two Camp Pendleton Marines—Lance Cpl. Albert A. Aguilera and Lance Cpl. Marcelino M. Gamino—died in a vehicle accident in Santa Teresa, New Mexico Tuesday morning while they were on a convoy movement for a border operation, and a third Marine fell critically injured. CBS8

➤ City planning commissioners in Oceanside are frustrated with a new policy that lets the City Council hold de novo hearings on appealed development projects—commissioners say it undermines their role—and they have asked for a formal meeting with the council to clarify responsibilities.
