  • Local chamber events offer networking opportunities with a happy hour at Stone Brewing on July 30th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.—a non-profit mixer is set for August 6th at Coomber Craft Wines from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and an Emerging Issues Forum featuring Police Chief Taurino Valdovinos is scheduled for August 7th from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Chamber members and non-members face different pricing and must register online.  The Vista Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Ivey Ranch Park Association will host its 15th Annual Western Hoedown on October 11 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ivey Ranch Park Equestrian Center in Oceanside—this event will feature horse riding demonstrations, hayrides, live music, BBQ, and raffles to support care programs and reduce waitlists.  The Vista Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Supervisor Jim Desmond announced that the EPA and Mexican officials signed an agreement to fund projects that will stop raw sewage from Tijuana from entering local waters. The plan provides $93 million in new funding—starting two major construction projects this year to divert 10 million gallons per day and expanding a wastewater plant by August, with projects set to finish by December 31, 2027.  The Vista Press
  • County supervisors voted 4-1 to approve a program that will offer small business owners and employees multilingual know-your-rights training if ICE raids occur—managed by the county Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement to help protect legal rights and stabilize workplaces.  The Coast News
  • A federal judge heard arguments on Thursday about what evidence might be admitted at an upcoming class action trial aiming to reform San Diego County jails after a 2022 state audit linked 185 jail deaths from 2006 to 2020. Attorneys argued points on expert witness credibility and jail policies—one side seeking to disqualify testimony—while the judge will issue a written ruling soon.  CBS8
