- ➤ The El Camino Quilters Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14 at El Corazon Senior Center in Oceanside with guest speaker Kristie Naranjo presenting a talk called Scrappy Applique for a $10 fee. It will then host a workshop on Scrappy Applique on October 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Quilt in a Day in San Marcos for a $55 fee. The Vista Press

- ➤ Oceanside Public Library is partnering with the City of Oceanside Arts Commission and Oceanside CA Cultural District to host the O’Arts Grants Celebration on Saturday, October 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library courtyard at 330 N. Coast Highway. A special edition of Oceanside Art Walk runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Civic Center Plaza and will award $150,000 in grants—featuring food, music, live performances and the announcement of the 2025-26 Arts & Culture Grant awardees. - ➤ Today, San Diego County approved a new ordinance that expands the oversight of the Citizens Law Enforcement Review Board to include investigations of healthcare providers in future jail deaths following the ninth in-custody death this year.
